I
won my first award for writing when I was five years old. My work has evolved greatly since the release of my literary debut, “The Sad Penguin,” but my love for storytelling has never wavered.
Today I’m an acclaimed reporter, radio producer, still photographer, video director, and writer. I’ve spent much of my career in public broadcasting, working for Iowa Public Television, Twin Cities Public Television, and Minnesota Public Radio.
My work has been showcased regionally, nationally, and internationally. I’ve received numerous awards, including a CINE Golden Eagle, a New York Festivals medal, and a regional Emmy. I’ve been honored by the Museum of Broadcast Communications, the American Library Association, the National Loeb Awards, the Northwest Broadcast News Association, and the Minnesota Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists.
I attended film school in Italy, studied Spanish in Cuba, was a social worker in India, and picked up intestinal parasites everywhere from Turkey to South Africa.
I’m partial to projects that explore the complexities and comedies of everyday life.
